Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach is a picturesque, small beach city known for its laid-back Southern California lifestyle. Its two-mile stretch of sand is one of the most desirable beaches in the area perfectly fitting the Spanish meaning of Hermosa, “beautiful.” About 20,000 people live here, making it the smallest of the three South Bay beach cities – including Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach – which are all connected by the Strand, a paved path that runs along the sand. By day you will find people enjoying the ideal weather, averaging 283 sunny days per year, while walking, jogging, and biking the Strand, surfing, swimming, playing beach volleyball, and strolling along the iconic Hermosa Beach Pier, site of the stunning, sunset scene from La, La, Land. There are countless dining and shopping venues to choose from along Pier Avenue and in the downtown area. As well as surf shops, artisan boutiques, and salons to enjoy. A number of lush, green parks, as well as the Greenbelt – a wide, tree-lined, walking path that runs the length of Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach – offer community members places to meet and play. Hermosa Beach is also home to many fun events including a weekly Farmer’s Market, Fiesta Hermosa, beach volleyball tournaments, and concerts. A distinct benefit for families living in this special community is the award-winning Hermosa Beach City School District. Three schools – View, Vista, and Valley – make up the district and encompass TK through 8th grade. Vista School, completed in 2021, is the South Bay’s newest school while upgrades are currently underway and planned for View and Valley. Hermosa Beach students may choose to attend either Mira Costa in Manhattan Beach or Redondo Union for high school.
